Privacy policy

Porchlight ("we") provides missed-call text-back and review-request tools to home-services businesses ("clients"). This policy covers our website and the service.

What we collect

  • Website visitors: only what you type into a form (for example your email and business name when you ask us to email your estimate). The calculator, demo and review-link tool run in your browser, and nothing you type there is sent to us unless you submit a form. We don't use advertising trackers or third-party analytics cookies.
  • Clients: business details you give during setup (business name, hours, phone numbers, carrier, owner name, email and mobile, message templates, review link) and billing status from Stripe. Card details are handled by Stripe. We never see or store card numbers.
  • People who call or text a client: the phone number, the time of the call, messages exchanged with the client's Porchlight number, and opt-out status. We use this only to provide the service to that client.
  • Business contacts we email: a business name, its public website, and a business email address published on that website, plus whether you replied or unsubscribed.

How we use it

To run the service (send the one text after a missed call, forward replies to the business, send review requests the business initiates), honor opt-outs, bill through Stripe, answer your emails, and send the emails you asked for or agreed to. We don't sell personal information, and we don't share phone numbers or message content with third parties for their marketing. Mobile opt-in data and consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.

Service providers

Cloudflare (hosting and database), Stripe (payments), an SMS carrier provider once texting is live (for example Twilio), and an email provider (for example Resend). They process data only to provide their services to us.

Retention

Message logs are kept for up to 24 months so clients can see their history and so we can show opt-outs were honored. Opt-out and email-suppression records are kept for as long as we operate, so we never contact you again by mistake. You can ask us to delete other data at any time.

Your choices

  • Text STOP to any Porchlight-powered number to stop texts from that business.
  • Use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or reply "unsubscribe".
  • Email hello@REPLACE-WITH-YOUR-DOMAIN.com to access, correct, or delete your data.
